The Secret and Law of Attraction
I’m on a pretty big diet / exercise kick right now, so I thought I would write about another topic and try to spread things out a bit. I first encountered The Secret after it was suggested to me by a friend. If you don’t know, The Secret is a documentary-style movie about The Law of Attraction, which basically says that whatever you have in your life, you have attracted into your life - and that you can attract whatever it is that you want into you life.
At first, it’s a pretty hard pill to swallow. Did I attract all of this debt into my life? Yes I think I did. Do I attract every single action that comes into my life? I’m not sure about that, but the idea behind The Law of Attraction is that you can change your life and make it better by focusing your energy on things that you want.
So I went to the website and paid the $5 to watch The Secret one time online. I felt pretty good afterwards. I was pumped up and I was ready to make a change. That lasted for a few days, then I was back in the same old rut of not really liking my job and doing the same old habits over and over again. About a week later, another friend sent me the movie so that I could watch it whenever I wanted. I watched it once more and then tucked it away for a while.
A few months passed and I was sitting up late at night with nothing particular to do. I turned on the movie and gave it a good watch. I started to pickup things from the movie that I hadn’t noticed the first few times I watched it, and I started to think about how I may have previously attracted different things into my life. The part of my life that was good (social life) versus the part of my life that wasn’t so good (professional life) made total sense, since I had always focused a lot of time and energy into my social life and basically left my professional life to drift on its own. Also, I had been on a path of self improvement for a long time - maybe I had attracted this movie into my life, via the people that I was associating with. (This was a year before The Secret appeared on Oprah)
There’s really a lot to talk about here, so I am going to break it up over several posts. As different ideas come to me, I will write about them and if you have anything to add, feel free to leave a comment on this post.

The Secret is great to watch over and over again as you always pick up on something new. When I first got my copy, I was watching it 2 -3 times a week and it does keep you in check with your focus and what you really want.
You always get what you focus on even if you don’t want it because the Universe doesn’t know the difference.
Great article Chris… I look forward to more…

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I haven’t watched The Secret lately, I feel like I’ve been ’skimming’ through it the last few times I watched it. I just need to get settled down a bit.
