Return to Your Commitments
As you’re going down the path of self improvement, you are going to find yourself straying in different directions at different times. Rare is the person who can make a resolution and stick to it without ever straying in the least. We are human and it is our nature to lose focus from time to time. The real measure of your character, and the measure of your commitment to yourself, is how soon you can acknowledge that you have strayed from your intended path - and then return to your commitments.
A person who lacks a commitment to their self will not have an issue with starting an exercise program for a week, and then never exercising again. Yes they promised that they would do their running program every day and run a triathlon next year - but nobody knows that they made this commitment and they aren’t hurting anybody by breaking their commitment, so they see no reason to push themselves. They easily give up when it becomes too hard, or they begin to slack and soon they are completely halted from obtaining their intended goals.
Everyone goes through situations like this. It does not make you a bad person, but if you are able to recognize where and when you are straying from your commitments, you will be able to more quickly return to your commitments and reach more of your goals.
The next time you make a commitment to yourself, don’t punish yourself when you start to stray. If you are taking on a new diet and you accidentally eat some chocolate cake, just enjoy the cake and then get right back to your diet when you wake up in the morning. A lot more damage can be done by sitting around and feeling bad about what you did, rather than simply owning your actions and then getting back to your commitments.

You are so right! I read that too about hating yourself for making mistakes. We get so caught up in negativity that it shapes our world and our bodies. I know, I’m one of the idiots! BTW: I’ve returned the favor and answered the questions in the chain as well as tagged a couple other bloggers
