Law of Attraction and My Stolen Bike

Law of Attraction Stolen BikeIf you have seen The Secret, you may remember the scene where the guy locks up his bike using several chains because he is constantly worried that his bike is going to be stolen, and then later that day The Law of Attraction punishes him. He returns to find that his bike has been stolen. This is basically what happened to me.

I had a pretty basic cable and padlock for my bike. I thought this was pretty secure, as you would need some heavy duty tools to cut through it and it’s not as though I would be leaving my bike in any particularly bad neighborhoods. However, no matter what I did, I couldn’t get the thought out of my mind that my bike was going to be stolen. I would lock it to a bike rack and the first thing I would think is “I hope nobody messes with my bike. I hope nobody steals my bike.”, which according to The Law of Attraction, sends out signals of “mess with my bike. steal my bike.” - and I actually thought about that. I tried to think “My bike will be right here when I return.” but that wasn’t real. I couldn’t stop my mind from thinking the negative.

One evening I was meeting some friends downtown to see a movie. It was a nice day so I jumped on my bike and zipped down the lakefront path. It was a nice ride and when I arrived at the theater, there was row upon row of bikes locked up along the railing in front of the building. I found a spot and locked my bike right out front. I looked across the street and saw another bike rack, but figured it wouldn’t matter - there were dozens of bikes parked here, mine would be safe. Right?

Everyone arrived and we went in to see the movie. 2 hours later we came out and I went to get my bike - but my bike was gone.

So did I actually attract this into my life? Did I think so much about my bike being stolen, that the universe actually aligned itself around that thought? It seems like a pretty wild thought.

Usually I would have taken the train downtown, but on the spur of the moment I decided to ride my bike. I locked my bike to the railing in front of the theater instead of the rack across the street. I got to the theater a half hour before my friends and stayed afterwards with a few of my friends to have a drink at the bar. That’s a lot of little things that may have come together to set me up for this.

Christopher, I like your blog and so relate. The happy news is that when the law of attraction works for the negative, you know your “attracting” then its a matter of refining what you are attracting! All is well and it sounds like you are constantly advancing.. Good for you!

Dawn - I definitely go through phases where I’m focused on attracting positive things, then I go into a bit of a lapse. I think it’s just a matter of making it a part of my daily life.

    Thanks for reading!
