Abs Diet and Whey Powder
As I posted previously, I have been on the Abs Diet for a few months now. The results have been good and the diet has not been hard to follow. As I eased into the Abs Diet, one of the things that resisted was the use of Whey Powder. Whey Powder is the one Abs Diet Power Food that you likely won’t find at your local grocery store. My main resistance to using whey powder was that I just didn’t know what a big difference it would make, so I didn’t bother going to GNC to buy it.
One day my girlfriend and I were at Trader Joe’s and I happened to see a coffee-can type package of whey powder. We decided to buy it and we started using it in our smoothies, which are a big part of the Abs Diet. The whey powder was chocolate, and it added some good flavor to our smoothies, so we went through it rather quickly. At this point I figured that I should probably keep using whey powder, but I was worried about the price. This little can had cost us $20, and really didn’t last very long.
A few days later I stopped by GNC and found that they had a Buy One Get One Half Off sale on whey powder - and they seem to have the sale every time I go back to buy more. There are a lot of different sized packages you can buy, but I usually buy the smallest and get a couple of different flavors so I can mix it up. It costs me about $20 for 2 packs, which lasts me a few weeks depending on how big of a health kick I’m on.
After I bought my first round of why powder from GNC, I did a little more research. The Trader Joe’s whey powder required that you mix it with milk - but the GNC why powder uses water. It sounds gross (when you mix it in a smoothie it is great) but if you whip it up in the blender it is not bad at all. Also, it’s not as though I’m savoring the flavor. I drink it pretty fast and then get to my workout.
The basic idea of why powder is that it is high protein and low calorie. Your body needs protein when you exercise, so if you drink whey powder before your workout, you will burn more fat and build more muscle. The Abs Diet book also says that people who drink whey powder before their workouts burn twice as much fat as people who drink whey powder after their workouts.
I have seen some great results with fat burning since I began regularly drinking whey powder before my workouts. If you are trying the Abs Diet or have anything to add to this conversation, comment on this post and I will be sure to respond.

I agree, whey protein is really tasty in a smoothie. Right now, I’m going through this berry-flavored Hemp protein, which works great with soymilk or yogurt, too!

The berry reminded me a bit of a medicine that I took when I was a kid, but it was good in a smoothie. I just finished up cookies and creme… Now I’ve got to get to the store. I think I will just stick with chocolate and vanilla this time.
